Legal Support Command

The mission of the Legal Support Command (“LSC”) is to provide legal services to components of the California Military Department. including the California Army National Guard, California Air National Guard, California State Guard, as well the Youth and Community Programs Task Force.

ABOUT the LSC

LSC Judge Advocates provide direct support in the form of legal advice, training, briefings, and investigations. LSC serves primarily as legal advisors to the command to which they are assigned. In this function, they can also serve as the personal legal advisor to their commander. Their advice may cover a wide range of issues dealing with administrative law, government contracting, civilian and military personnel law.

Services

LSC Judge Advocates provides legal assistance to service members of the California Military Department on a wide range of matters relating to or affecting their military service, including:

  • employment
  • estate planning
  • family and domestic relations
  • relief from financial obligations
  • military administrative matters
  • taxes.

Legal assistance Judge Advocates assist service members and their eligible family members with the preparation of wills and powers of attorneys, provide advice on matters relating to divorce and child custody, and may in appropriate cases represent soldiers in court to obtain financial relief under California law.

The LSC welcomes applications from attorneys admitted to the California Bar, as well as qualified paralegals and legal administrative personnel. Presently, the Legal Support Command is recruiting attorneys with expertise in the following areas: military justice, employment, family law, California fiscal law, estate planning, and State and Federal tax law. 

Additionally, qualified attorneys located in Northern California, the Central Valley (Fresno to Stockton), San Diego, and the Inland Empire are encouraged to apply irrespective of their specialty. Paralegals or qualified legal administrative personnel throughout the State are also encouraged to apply. Prior military service is not required. Click the button below to start the process.
